Server Maintenance – All Servers (Live Event)

Status: Maintenance complete.

Greetings!

We will be bringing all North American and Oceanic servers offline this morning at 10:00 AM EDT for a short maintenance. This downtime is to enable The Wild Hunt Live Event.

At this time we anticipate that all servers will be back online no later than 2:00 PM EDT. As always, please check the Herald for up to the minute updates regarding this downtime.

WAR Storms PAX ’09!

Mythic Entertainment, the developer of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR), will be descending upon Penny Arcade Expo 2009 from September 4th - 6th to meet fans and showcase the latest and greatest new content and updates to WAR. Located at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle, Washington, the event will provide the opportunity for local players to hang out in the WAR Lounge and speak with members of the development team about WAR's one year anniversary and the latest and deadliest Live Event players have ever seen: The Wild Hunt!

The pounding of Ghurlak’s flat feet along the canyon floor sounded like the beat of a war-drum as the runty Orc came thundering down the mountain towards Bagrash Runtchucka’s cave. The choppas he’d looted after the fight with the stuntie war party felt good in his gnarled hands; Ghurlak slashed at the air as he ran, exulting at the hungry, whickering sound they made. He hacked at the scraggly trees growing from the canyon walls, just to feel the solid thunk of impact and hear the splintering of wood as the crude weapons sheared through trunk and limb. When the rock walls pressed close he swiped at them as well, striking arcs of orange sparks from the stone. By the time he reached the fire-lit cavern at the feet of Black Crag, the edges of the iron blades were jagged and bright.

Hey Everyone,

My name is Jeff Skalski and I’m the WAR Producer here at Mythic Entertainment. Some of you may know me from various Mythic podcasts and interviews I’ve done over the years on RvR and Land of the Dead, but today I get to share with you my first Producer's Letter. I hope you enjoy the read and if you actually like it, I might write more of these in the future. ;)

Continuing where my boss Jeff Hickman left off, I want to provide more details on items you can expect with our upcoming 1.3.0b patch, and a little bit of a sneak peek into 1.3.1. Just one small disclaimer -- I don’t want to cause anyone anger or emotional distress if something I discuss slips to a later patch. In this professional field, anything can happen at a moment’s notice, especially that which is unplanned. Besides, being rather excited for what we have planned and currently in production, I’d rather not hold back too much. Consider this an insider look into what we’re working on. ;) Our plan is to continue to be more open with our community, so I’m sure you’ll be hearing more from me and others over the coming months and years.

The Origin of the Elves

Even the Elves themselves are unsure of their exact origin, which was lost in the dawn of time. What is known, however, is that they come from the beautiful Isle of Ulthuan where they lived and prospered for centuries in peace and harmony, learning the arts of the Old Ones. Blessed with grace, beauty, strength, and intelligence, they lived for thousands of years in a state of peace that many thought would never end.

When the Old Ones’ Warp Gates collapsed, however, the forces of Chaos arrived. Trapped on their island, the Elves fought bravely against the hordes of daemons that came from beyond the stars, but they seemed unstoppable. Many of the Elves, capable of deep and intense emotions, began to study the way of the warrior, and were in charge of organizing the island’s defenses against the assault. Among these was the greatest and most tragic hero the Elves have ever known: Aenarion, who would later become the first Phoenix King of the Elves.

This week, our German Community Manager, Hadi Al-Begami, once again dabbles in all things supernatural, focusing on what the men of the Empire call Winds (or Lores) of Magic. If you want to find out more about the works of the seemingly uncontrollable power that, in a way, rules every aspect of existence in the Old World, read on – but be warned, for many a man who has sought this knowledge died an awful death in the pits of The Inevitable City.

Ghurlak waded into the metal-clad tide of dwarfs with a bloodthirsty roar. The stunties swallowed him up at once, racing around the flanks of their fellows to try and get a shot at the orc’s unprotected back. In the space of a moment Ghurlak was completely surrounded by a sea of shouting, chopping, wild-eyed foes. Hammers thudded into his ribs and pummeled at his thighs; axes chopped at his arms, leaving deep cuts in his thick, waxy skin. The pain set his blood on fire. For the first time ever, Ghurlak felt truly alive.
